Indietro

Orvieto has an enchanting atmosphere and a rich, importatnt history, as witnessed by its artistic and archeological treasures: its necropolis dating back to the Etruscan age, the ruins of a temple, the numerous palazzi, the Pozzo di San Patrizio--a true architectonic jewel--but also the many churches in the historic center, among which stands out the majestic Duomo.
Besides the many representative buildings, Orvieto features an array of cultural events: the prestigious international jazz festival "Umbria Jazz Winter", and Slow food, which every year unwinds along the streets to show the typical food and wine products of the area. Orvieto also has two movies theaters and an open air theater.
There are plenty of religious and folkloristic fairs, which illustrate the ties that Orvieto has with its traditions.
The town is situated in a magnificent position, characterised by small neighborhoods and particularly beautiful areas, also enjoyed through many sport activities such as trekking, horseback riding, biking, rafting and canyoning near the famous Cascate delle Marmore, about an hour south-east from Orvieto.
Thanks to its position in the heart of Italy, from Orvieto one can readily reach other sites of historical/cultural relevance, such as Rome, Florence, Perugia.
